One of the places which I felt had the best view of Budapest was in a place named Citadel. We had taken the hop on and hop off bus to reach there. The day we arrived was windy and too cold so we had some hot tea aka foro tea which geared us up to capture the day with beautiful pics.
The place is actually a fortress which was erected on the order of the Habsburg Kings to keep an eye on the Hungarians who rebelled against the might from time to time. We can also find a statue here that can be seen from almost everywhere. It depicts a female figure holding a palm branch and is known as the Liberty Statue.
The historical irony is that in 1947 the statue was erected for the glory of the Soviet army freeing the country from fascist domination. Those same Soviet troops then stayed in Hungry until 1989.
