The Heroes Square, Budapest!

The largest square with the symbolic statues of the Hungarian chiefs and kings. A millennium Monument, a 36m-high pillar built to commemorate the 1000-year-old-history of the Magyars. Designed in 1894 by Albert Schickedanz and completed thirty-five years later.

Archangel Gabriel stands on top of the center pillar, holding the holy crown and the double cross of Christianity. The seven chieftains who led the Magyar tribes to Hungary can be seen on the stand below. Statues of kings and other important historical figures stand on top of the colonnades on either side of the center pillar.

Once you visit the square you will find Vajdahunyad Castle, built in the 19th-20th century, designed by Ignac Alpar. At the foot of the castle there is a artificial pond. In the summer it operates as a boating pond and while in the winter turned into an ice rink.

Apart from that, there is Museum of Fine Arts on the left and Kunsthalle (Hall of Art) on the right of the square and few minutes ahead there is Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden and the famous Szechenyi bath and pool. All in all you can spend an entire day here.
