A destination found by students and professors of their time, probably to get respite from their study. Nevertheless a boon for today’s travellers.
Philosopher’s walk is a good hike in Heidelberg with the best views of the town, castle, the neckar river, the mountains and the walk between the woods. It’s a nature’s paradise I would say. It is located on the northern side of the Neckar river, running along the side of Heiligenberg (the Holy Mountain or Saint’s Mountain).
The start of the walk is steep and narrow with cobbled stone walls, so it is a bit difficult for a non fit person like me to reach the destination where you can photograph the best of Heidelberg, but worth the effort. There are several pathways that you can take and find the best places to view the city.
