An encounter with Mr. Monkey!!!

A walk back to the hotel amongst the bushy trees, unaware of the hustle of the leaves. Singing, chatting, laughing on our vacation, suddenly we find Mr. Monkey on our track glaring without invitation. A step back n 5 more stand behind, as if on deputation. All surrounded didn’t know where to run. Ticking mind as to what to do, a loud screech from Mr. Monkey seeking my full attention.

I move, he moves, I stare, he stares. A mirror game is what I feel we are playing. Ok, so we are stuck Mr. Monkey, tell me your demands, making a telepathic communication with him.

An epiphany from one of the intelligent one amongst us. “Give him the bag with goodies, that’s what he wants”.

I look at the bag with saddened eyes. Give him she says, is she crazy what if he pounces on me instead of the bag. Contemplating what should I do. To do or not to do?.

Meanwhile Mr. Monkey looses patience, swings ahead, I drop the bags in fear. Another swift swing; Mr. Monkey, the goodies, the 5 accomplice all disperse off, before I could understand what just happened.

A look around in the forest, find all of them having a party relishing the goodies. All we could do is watch our goodies satisfying someone else’s taste buds.

And I swear did I just see Mr. Monkey look up n smirk at me…….

The episode above took place in one of my girls weekend trip in Matheran, a hill station very popular near Mumbai.

If you go to any hill stations in Maharashtra, India. The sight of monkey’s is quiet common. There are those free willed mammals you would occasionally come across.
The picture’s above were taken from some of those occasional encounters and not from the above described event, at that time I was too frightened to take a pic and later too angry to have my goodies being stolen from Mr. Monkey. Hehhe.

I have never come across any news of them being harmful, they usually are peacefully in their own world. But as we know they are notorious too. So I guess they cant help not being hungry mischievous at times.

My only wish, if there was anyway I could have removed that smirk off Mr. Monkey…haha…

Happy Encounters!!!

Matheran is filled with Notorious Monkeys. When we office group went there for a day picnic, the little Pranksters, got into our hotel window and would not leave. We girls stood glued to the ground. Finally, we all screamed and the Monkey ran away.

Good the monkeys just took the bag and dispersed. Once my sister wjen she was quite young, went to feed it something and it bit her hand. She had to take an injection after that attack. I am really scared after that incident.

They are common at hill-stations. I totally get you. There’s a place called Chikaldhara near Nagpur which has a temple and is famous for the monkeys camped there all the time.
On our visit there I lost our bag of prasad to them, much out of fear of being hurt or scratched. 😐 Everyone was like…you should’ve hidden the bag and stuff…but who can think of all that that time! 😂😂

I remember an encounter on one of our school trips to Shimla. They even took away someone’s bag and everyone was just standing/sitting still😂
